1. How long have you been a realtor?

For nearly 15 years, my previous career had me flying all over the country every week. After countless hotel rooms, airport terminals, and missed moments at home, the constant travel started to wear me down and I knew I needed a change. That’s when I decided to give real estate a try. That was three years ago, and since then it’s been a whirlwind of learning, growth, and new challenges. The profession is demanding, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.

2. What do you like most about living and selling real estate in Florida?

After 26 years of enjoying Florida’s warm weather, I can confidently say I don’t miss those cold Pennsylvania winters one bit. That’s one of the biggest perks of selling real estate here, there’s a steady stream of people looking to escape the snow and embrace a year-round outdoor lifestyle.

3. What advice do you have for anyone looking to buy or sell right now?

The best advice I would give to a prospective buyer or seller is to be prepared and work with someone you trust. For buyers, get pre-approved early so you know exactly what you can afford, and be ready to move quickly on homes you love. Don’t let rates scare you, focus on finding the right home, because you can always refinance later when conditions improve.

4. What three traits define you?

These kinds of questions always make me uncomfortable, but I’d say I’m honest, hard working and a people-pleaser.

5. What would you be doing if you weren’t in real estate?

I collect, buy and sell vintage comic books. It's something that I've enjoyed since I was a teenager, so I would probably try to see if I could make a living at it.

6. What is the most challenging and/or gratifying aspect of what you do?

The most challenging part of real estate for me is definitely the schedule. As a newer agent, I am still learning how to maintain that work/life balance. As I said, I'm a people-pleaser and I don't like to tell people no. With that said, I love helping people realize their dream of buying a home of their own. The good definitely outweighs the bad.

7. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

I'm always trying to learn new stuff. My latest is teaching myself to paint with an airbrush.

8. What are your favorite indoor or outdoor activities?

I have so many hobbies. Whether it’s drawing, painting, cooking, or anything that lets me use my hands and imagination. It's the way I unwind at the end of a long, stressful day.

9. If you wrote an autobiography about your life, what would you title it?

A Little Short for a Stormtrooper

10. In your opinion, what is the coolest design trend you are seeing in homes today?

I love all the new smart home stuff! Everything is getting more convenient with things like voice-controlled lighting and temperature, automated shading, energy-efficient systems. We're not quite the Jetsons yet, but we're getting there!

11. Where is your favorite place in the world to be?

After traveling all over the country for nearly 30 years, I am a total homebody. I enjoy being at home with my family and two miniature dachshunds, Loki and Thor.

12. If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?

Kind of an unusual answer, but I would say the composer John Williams. From Star Wars and Indiana Jones to Jurassic Park and Harry Potter, I always say he created the soundtrack of my life.

13. Who would you want to play you in a movie about your life and why?

I don't know, I guess I'd say Harrison Ford. He can do it all, comedy, drama. He's not flashy. Sometimes things get tough, but he always figures out a way to overcome any obstacle in the end!

14. What are your top 5 favorite TV shows or movies in no particular order?

There's way too many to narrow down to 5. I would say Seinfeld, Game of Thrones, Kill Bill 1 & 2, Tombstone, Interstellar, the Goonies and so many others!

15. What are your top 5 favorite bands/artists or podcasts to listen to?

I'm a child of the 80's, so my musical taste is a bit dated. Classic rock is pretty much all I listen to. My all time favorite is Guns N' Roses, been lucky enough to see them play all over the country. I guess other favorites of mine, would be Smashing Pumpkins, Metallica and AC/DC. I also can't leave out the legend we lost this year, the great Ozzy Osbourne. That one hit me hard.

16. Where is your favorite place to eat?

Due to years of travel, I've been lucky enough to eat at some of the best restaurants in the country. While they were all great, I'd rather eat a nice home cooked meal. Preferably something from my smoker.

17. What is the most unique property you’ve listed or sold?

I sold a manufactured home with a half million dollars in upgrades! The seller added a 3 car garage, redid the entire inside, top to bottom. The backyard was like something at a resort.

18. What is the most unusual thing you’ve encountered while working in real estate?

Let me start out by saying that I've never been someone that believes in ghosts. However, I was doing a video tour over in Orlando. It was a vacant home, a little creepy, but not anything crazy. As I was shooting the video, I had this feeling like someone was standing right behind me. My whole back went ice cold and I slowly looked behind me. Nothing was there. Needless to say, I finished that tour in a hurry after that!
